Annemijn Smulders completed a MSc in Youth & International Development at Utrecht University. During her internship at a women’s rights organisation, she wrote a thesis about effective strategies to prevent female genital mutilation and contributed to the development of an intervention. Annemijn is very interested in the topic of gender equality. Therefore, she is strongly motivated to be part of the Engendering STEM team and contribute to more inclusive working environments. Additionally, Annemijn works as a project assistant at VHTO and devotes her time mainly to outreach & engagement projects, such as the Dutch national Girlsday. During this day thousands of girls pay a visit to technical/ICT companies, where they meet female role models and take part in fun and interactive activities, possibly inspiring them to choose for a career in STEM.
